The Pitout family invited us to their Lowveld farm to capture their little family (as we yearly do). What a pleasure to document their kids doing what they do best - being themselves, and playing where they're at their most comfortable.

We live in a time where family photos are normally something that makes you cringe, or quickly becomes the awkward yearly shoot your kids hate - sounds familiar? When I'm working with families I aim to break that terrible picture down and to collaborate with them to create something that carries weight, something lasting.

Honestly, I don't want your kids to sit perfectly still and I don't care about the scar your kid got when he fell off his scooter last week or if the kids (or you) are wearing shoes – I want to capture your core.
I capture whichever phase your family is in – the emotional roller coaster, the snack breaks, and the whack things your kids do.

Never apologize for it.

Here's one of the sweetest families I've had the honour of creating with.
