Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT ME

What equipment do you use?

How many photographers are included in the package?

My second photographer and I shoot with Canon, and I shoot film on request. I shoot with two Canon R6 ii bodies. I mainly shoot with a 28-70mm zoom lense and 35mm/50mm/85mm prime lenses.

I also enjoy shooting with different 35mm film cameras, let me know if you'd like to add a few rolls onto your package.

If you book me for photography: I always have a professional second shooter as I see it necessary for most weddings, except if my packages state it otherwise.

If you book photography + videography, depending on the package, I normally shoot alongside Herno, my husband and videographer, and our second photographers if it’s included in the package.

Do you only do weddings?

Describe your style

I mainly shoot weddings, but I absolutely adore family & maternity sessions and add a couple session (engagement, anniversary, elopements and vow renewals) into the mix when my schedule allows it. If you have a really cool concept and would like me to shoot it for you, please share your vision.

My work is a combination of poetic nostalgia and modern storytelling with a classic edge.

Naturally I'm drawn to emotive, unposed moments while also being influenced by fashion and more editorial work so I combine these aspects to create an unconventional gallery.

I’m all about capturing who you are in a timeless way, aiming to create something that you'll love to show to your grandchildren. My work is classic, edgy, and documentary.

BOOKING YOUR WEDDING WITH ME

What do you need from us to secure our date?

How can we book you to capture our wedding?

For weddings a 40% booking fee, signed contract and the completed questionnaire, which I’ll share as soon as you’re ready to book. Somewhere along this journey I'd love to have a call so we can get to know each other and so you can share your vision.

First off, congratulations on deciding to tie the knot!

To book me, you can start by completing my contact form thoroughly, telling me more about yourselves, your wedding (especially date + location) and the things that's important to you. If we’re a good match and I’m available on your date, I'll send you my packages and we'll take it from there.

How far in advance should we book?

As far in advance as possible - I take bookings 16 months in advance, but be sure to enquire about 6-12 months before your wedding as I get booked up quite fast when my bookings open, and I plan my season around my traveling schedule so some dates are location dependent. If your timeline differ from this, please still get in touch; I only accept 28 bookings a year but my schedule looks different each season.

Do you offer different packages for elopements or vow renewals?

I love elopements and vow renewals and generally the timeline looks very different so yes, I offer separate packages for that in my quiet season, with a minimum coverage of 5 hours booked.

Do you offer discount?

Could we reduce the amount of photos included in the package to save costs?

No, I don't. If your date falls in my quiet season, I might be able to offer you a package with less hours/add ons.

Unfortunately not, as the amount of photos are dependent on the amount of hours we're booked, eg. if I shoot for 10 hours, I typically provide 600+ photos. If you want less photos, we can discuss cutting an hour from the package if I'm comfortable with it (because I don't want to feel rushed and even more, I don't want you to feel rushed).

BEFORE THE WEDDING

Do you travel for weddings or shoots?

Do you give RAWS?

Yes, I regularly travel for weddings. While we're based in Gauteng for most of the year, about 50% of our weddings take place in the Western Cape, so we follow a set travel schedule. This means some available dates depend on where your wedding is located, to help minimize travel time.

If your venue is more than 120km from our base, please budget a little extra for accommodation. Also, for weddings in remote areas or locations that require long or risky drives, my package must include a second shooter or videographer, as I don’t travel alone in situations where safety could be a concern.

For engagement or lifestyle sessions, I only travel up to 45 minutes to an hour from Pretoria, Joburg, or Cape Town (depending on where I’m scheduled). This helps me preserve energy and maintain a balanced calendar—I’ve found that longer travel for these sessions just doesn’t work well for me.

No, I don’t. Editing is half the process that goes into images and without this huge step, the photos are only halfway done.
I guarantee that I won't leave photos out that you would want, though—I won’t let you miss out on your memories.

What if we need to cancel/ reschedule our wedding?

If you’ve already paid a booking fee and need to cancel or move your date, the fee is non-refundable. To secure a new date, a new booking fee will be required.

This isn’t about charging extra—it’s because I reserve that date for you and limit the number of weddings I take on to give each couple my full energy and attention.

What do we wear for engagement photos?

Wear whatever makes you feel confident and comfortable. If you’re working from reference images, match your outfit to the vibe. Feel free to share those with me! Neutrals and black photograph beautifully, and textures usually work better than busy patterns.

What if we need to reschedule our engagement/ bridal couple shoot due to weather?

Do you need to see the venue/location before the wedding?

Some of my favorite shoots have been in dramatic weather, but if the conditions are really bad, we can reschedule—if both our calendars allow it.

Nope! I actually love arriving at new venues with fresh eyes—it keeps my creativity sharp. If I haven’t shot there before, I’ll simply arrive earlier on the day to scout the space. Rest assured that we're 100% prepared.

What do you need from us before our wedding?

How can we contact you if we need anything?

I'll need three key things: a list of family photo combinations, your wedding schedule (which I’m happy to help with or review), and a full list of your vendors. I’ll check in a few months before your big day to confirm these details.

If there’s anything else I should know—like sensitive family dynamics or surprise moments you have planned for each other—please share that too. It helps me prepare and ensures everything goes smoothly.

If you’re working through a planner, please make sure my check-in emails reach you directly. I can’t take responsibility for emails that are sent to your planner but not passed on.

Feel free to email or call me. We'll also arrange a Facetime call. I am not available on Whatsapp so if it’s urgent, please call me.

What if I’m very insecure about something—or have specific photo requests?

Do you work with any videographers?

Please don’t hesitate to share any insecurities or specific photo wishes with me ahead of time. I can only capture what I see and know about, so the more you share, the better I can support you.

You’re welcome to show me images you love—I enjoy getting a sense of your style! Just keep in mind that every wedding is unique, and while I welcome inspiration, I won’t replicate another photographer’s work or alter my editing style.

Almost! I work well with professional videographers whose style complements mine. A well-matched team ensures a smoother experience and a more cohesive final result. Every creative works differently, and your production team can have a big impact on your timeline and overall experience—so don’t underestimate it. Feel free to ask me for trusted referrals!

AT THE WEDDING

At what time do you start?

What can we as a couple do to ensure an epic wedding?

We’ll work on a timeline with you or your planner beforehand. We usually start between 12:00 and 14:00 for an afternoon wedding, depending on the coverage included in your package, but that differs depending on your vision for your wedding.

Be intentional. Get off Pinterest and personalise your wedding - do what you love.

I would recommend working with professional wedding vendors (especially planners) through the bank so you can let go and enjoy every moment.

Consider having a no phone policy (for you, not for us) & focus on the lighting during your ceremony + reception to create a warm atmosphere.

What do you wear to weddings?

I will ask what your dress code is beforehand so we can blend in, but normally we either wear dark, professional attire or something matching your dress code.

Do you work overtime?

If you (or your MC) ask us to, we’ll work overtime and bill you afterwards. We’ll always check with your MC first to make the most out of the hours you have paid for, though.

should we feed you?

Yes please. We need a dedicated spot to drop our equipment (out of sight) and where we can have our meals, preferably as close to the action as possible.

AFTER THE WEDDING

Can you photoshop us to look skinnier/have clear skin?

Are my photos going to look like the ones on your blog?

Kind of. I remain quite consistent with my style (emotive, organic & documentary with a modern, editorial edge) so your photos will look similar in style to my other work, but I do apply very subtle changes as my style modernises with trends & experience.

While my editing is consistent, your photos will be as unique as your wedding - the setting/venue, the weather, the people, your colour scheme, reception lighting, etc. are all things that influences the photos.

I want you to be able to focus on the memory and how it felt, not on the things you might be a bit insecue about so yes, I want you look beautiful, not unrealistic. I'm very serious about removing distractions, doing basic retouching and clearing up skin but I don’t ‘Photoshop’ your bodies to look different. With that being said, at the end of the day, if you love your photos I’m happy so if there are things that bother you in the photos, I want to know. If those things are beyond my retouching capabilities I’d gladly refer you to a professional retoucher.

How do I know that my photos are safe and won’t get lost?

How long does it take to get our photos? And how do you give it to us?

My second photographer and I both shoot with professional cameras on dual cards, which we separate as soon as we’re on our way home. When we’re home, we start backing up onto two external hard drives & online to minimise the risk of losing photos. Unfortunately, we can never eliminate the risk of losing photos, but rest assured that we do our absolute best to keep your photos safe.

10 - 14 weeks (delivery of albums excluded) for wedding photos, 6 weeks for engagement photos.
Your photos might take slightly longer in our peak season but we’ll keep you updated throughout the process, send a preview within two weeks and let you know as soon as we’re done with your online gallery. We’ll also send you a USB with all your photos + albums (if there’s any included in your package) later on, within 8 weeks from receiving your album selection..

How does the album work? Can we choose the photos?

You select the photos, colour, title and other customization. After I sent you your online wedding gallery, I will share a questionnaire with all your customization options. You'll be able to select 80 of your favourites (if there’s more, I’ll send a separate invoice on the extra spreads) within two months. From there, I do the design and printing.

If your package doesn't include an album, you can always add it later. View my album page for more information.

can I get the colour version of the photos you edited in black and white?

I base my decision to edit some of the photos in black and white on my professional opinion and creative freedom. If there are a 5-10 photos you really want in colour you can let me know within a week after receiving your gallery but I do appreciate couple's trusting me with this. If you want more photos converted to colour, my standard hourly rate applies.

VIDEO

do you always shoot raw coverage of ceremony & speeches or do we have to book it beforehand?

Do you offer combination packages for photo & video?

My husband, Herno from Other Half Films and I offer combination packages on request. We realised it's such a task to find a videographer with the same style as your photographer so while I work with other professional videographers with a style similar to mine, we also offer this on request.

If you want your full ceremony & speeches covered, please book this beforehand. The main videographer only captures shorter clips for your highlight film so if we're booked for coverage of ceremony & speeches as well, we need a professional videographer to record that separately on a standalone camera and to manage sound equipment for voice recordings. I know it sounds simple but it's really not. For this exact reason this is only included in our biggest combination package, or can be booked as an extra.

Alternatively, you can have a friend set up a camera to record it - we'll help them find a good spot.

What if I want to book a different videographer?

You're welcome to book someone else! Please focus on booking someone with the same style as your photographer, though. A wedding day is a high energy, high-stress experience where you have little control, so it does complicate things if our styles don't match or if someone is not experienced. There are so many videographers we love to work with so feel free to reach out for referrals.

Do you choose the songs for your video, or can we send inspiration?

If you send us around 3-5 songs we'll get a good idea of what you love and the vibe you're aiming for. If there are no copyright infringements and it works with the video, we can use the songs you sent, otherwise we use something with a similar feel to it.

Herno has an incredible knowledge base about music so rest assured, you're in good hands. If you don't like the song/s I used we can change it.

Do I have to book photography and videography at the same time?

No, you're welcome to only book a videography highlight film (and ceremony & speeches coverage if you want it) as an add-on closer to your wedding date if Other Half Films are still available at that time.
