While Herno and I was in Plettenberg Bay for a few days over the festive season, Shanay and Ludick invited us to their family beach home in Mosselbay for a few days. We drove around the town in search of epic swim spots, watched the golden sunset from their patio and just became such close friends.
On the 1st of January 2021, we shot their vow renewal between the cliffs of Gwaing, George, a very special place to them (both of them kind of grew up in this area - Shanay over holidays and Ludick in George). They bought their vow books at a local shop and Shanay brought her original wedding bouquet along for the shoot and it just made everything so much more sentimental & real.
After they did their vows, we took to the cliffs next to the ocean, where they goofed around, watched the sun set until their eyes did that "only-seeing-black-holes-due-to-too-much-sun-looky"-thing, and recited a short piece of poetry they have written to one another. We ended it off with too much champagne and went to have dinner at home with their two (now three) pups and more of our favorite people.
Shanay is a fantastic photographer (and Ludick a spectacular filmmaker) so let me tell you, ya girl felt the pressure! Thank you for trusting me with these epic, very emotional moments, you two. We love you so much!
